Easter is here, and there is no snow on the ground but there is still ice on the lake – Rødnessjøen. Above you see our tulips and eggs that Michael has decorated with the British Embassy (Ørje) logo he has made. We will be staying at home this Easter and I will be knitting, maybe you will too?

Easter arrived with summer here in Ørje, we seem to have skipped spring this year. In one week from freezing temperatures and snowflakes to brilliant summer & shorts weather. You can see flake ice on the lake in the bottom photo, taken last week. Michael and I am are staying at home. I am working on designs for my next photoshoot as well as translations, while Michael is out in his newly acquired boat or yacht as our neighbours call it. It is after all a skiff (tiny boat for maximum two people), 8 foot and with no engine, so far that is.
Yesterday we went abroad to Sweden, which is only 15 minutes away, and checked out the newly opened extension of our nearest shopping centre in Töcksfors. There were plenty of Norwegians there, since all shops in Norway are closed for the Easter holiday.
Michael made the top image: God Påske means Happy Easter. Our house is known as the British Embassy since Michael is a British citizen as well as a Norwegian one (read: dual citizenship). This Easter the ambassador is out on his yacht.

Easter is here with sunshine and warmer temperatures at least during the day. We still have close to -10 degrees Celsius/14 Fahrenheit at night. Michael and I will be staying at home. As for our address here in Ørje, I have discovered it is so much easier to say we live in Tore’s old house than giving the street address. Apparently, everybody here in town knows Tore. So Michael is the Englishman that has bought Tore’s house. That is Ørje in a nutshell.
An Easter egg can be so many things, and I know that a knitter’s one is usually not filled with sweets but with yarns & patterns. Nice with an Easter egg that is not fattening and comes in lovely colours, wrote one Instagram user hoping to win a gift voucher from a yarn store. It is Easter, and I am on a button hunt. I do know that it is the not the kind of hunt you are supposed to be on during Easter, but not unusual for me though! Where do I go? My favorite button treasure trove is Perlehuset/The beading house in Grønnegate off Hedgehaugsveien in Oslo – here: perlehuset. It is a tiny shop but do not be fooled the selection is off another world and their warehouse is numerous times the size of the shop – yes, I do know because I have been there. Of course I have to check out their latest selection of beads as well while I am there – their latest offerings on Facebook has made me very curious indeed: semi precious stones on a string.
