It is wonderful to see my designs on others, so when Michael’s son Tom came to visit with his wife Verity Bradford (who is a multidisciplinary circus artist, personal trainer and costume designer), I asked if she would model the new Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk designs for me. I loved Verity’s casual style as it suited the high-low pullover Hayami so well. Michael photographed Verity at the National Museum in Oslo, wearing size 2 with 48 cm/19 inches positive ease. The pattern is currently being tested in my Ravelry group, and will be released at the end of April. Yarn kits will soon be available to order online directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Above is Verity and me, I am wearing Kibo, the vest also made in Tinde pelt wool for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. I have graded Hayami in sizes 1 to 9 with a bust circumference of 128 to 192 cm/50.5 to 75.5 inches. Hayami – rare and unusual beauty in Japanese – is a high-low pullover in stockinette stitch with a cabled Kangaroo pocket and swinging side panels that ends in a high turtleneck collar. The side panels are picked up and knitted after the side seams are done. The pocket is knitted at the end. Wear it as you like; hanging loose or gathered with a belt or with a shawlpin at the front. Hayami is knitted in the pelt wool yarn Tinde with lustre from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.The pullover is worked back and forth in pieces from the bottom and up, then seamed. The side panel is picked up and knitted after the shoulder and side seams. The collar is worked in the round. The Kangaroo pocket is worked at the end from stitches set aside. Here you see the silhouette very well. The sample is knitted by my very skilled sample knitter Nadja with a 21 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch gauge using 3.5 mm/US 4 needle measuring 10 cm/4 inches square.
