The next set of photos from our photoshoot back in December, that I will share is of the new design Iku made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. I decided to style the jacket with the camel coloured silk trousers and a sun hat. Photographer Eivind Røhne took these amazing photos of jazz singer Anette Løvtangen, with make-up & hair by Hina Suleman, in the chapel at Bøler Church. Yes, I did give Anette a ball of yarn to play with as she was missing her usual microphone… The sample is knitted by yours truly with a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch using 3.5 mm/US 4 needle measuring 10 cm/4″ square after blocking. Anette is wearing size 2 with 3 cm/1.25″ of positive ease, but I have graded the jacket in sizes 1 to 9 with a closed bust circumference of 89 to 169 cm/35 to 66.5″ and a bottom circumference of 85 to 165 cm/33.5 to 65″. A seamless jacket adorned with a lace pattern at the center of the body, named Iku, Japanese for nourishing. The body is shaped for the bust and worked in one piece from the bottom to the armholes, while the sleeves are worked top down in stockinette stitch to make the lace pattern stand out. The jacket ends in a crew neck that is crowned with an I-cord and a button band. Iku is knitted in the soft Norwegian lambswool yarn Sol from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.My cream coloured shoes, didn’t fit Anette (shoe size 41, while mine is 39), but one pair of my boots did so that is what she wore. The test knit of Iku is underway and I plan to release the pattern in English and Norwegian in my Ravelry Store at the end of February.
