The sleeveless pullover Izana was the first garment that Emmalin Williams wore on our photoshoot in June at Galleri Würth, outside of Oslo. Izana, made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, looked fabulous on Emmalin with make-up & hair styling by Hina Suleman and earrings by Kaja Gjedebo Design, while the bracelet is by Monies. Photographer Eivind Røhne captured these brilliant shots outside the entrance to the gallery. I chose to style it with culottes, a black silk blouse and with a woven wool scarf, as well as without the scarf. Yarn kits with English or Norwegian pattern will be available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk later this month, while the individual pattern will soon be published on Ravelry and on LoveCrafts as the test knit is nearly finished.
Named Izana Japanese for invite is this straight oversized sleeveless pullover where the extra width is turned into a sleeve-part. It is adorned with a basket weave pattern and crowned by I-cords around the neck as well as the armholes. Izana is worked, with a double hem at the bottom, in parts and seamed to make it hang better. The pullover is knitted in the airy comb yarn Ask from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.
I have graded the pattern in these sizes: XS (S/M, L/XL, 2XL/3XL, 4XL/5XL). The finished bust circumference is from 120 to 207.5 cm/47.25 to 81.75″. Emmalin is wearing size S/M with 57cm/22.5” positive ease. I gave her a small ball of yarn to play with, as you can see from the photo above …
My skilled sample knitter Nadja knitted this using a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle and a 22 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ square.
The backdrop looks more like Morocco, than Norway, but we were so lucky with the warm weather and Eivind had made sure he had brought enough reflectors to give Emmalin shadow. Izana came alive for me when I saw these beautiful photos, thank you so much to my wonderful team!
