Ekilana Pattern Released

The test knit of Ekilana, made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, has come to an end and I am delighted to release the English pattern in my Ravelry Store. The Norwegian pattern will be added shortly. Yarn kits with either an English or a Norwegian pattern are available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. My test knitters did a brilliant job correcting and improving the pattern in addition to making stunning new versions of it!

Emmalin Williams looked in the Ekilana oversized sweater was photographed by Wenche Hoel-Knai, worn by Emmalin Williams – with my Japanese trousers and Trippen boots – at our photoshoot at a studio at Ensjø in Oslo. Jane Skarpeid Hermansen is the brilliant make-up & hair stylist, while the silver jewellery is by Kaja Gjedebo Design.

Named Ekilana, a female name from Greenland, is this oversized poncho styled sweater with a central cable panel and a high collar. Small cables play on a striped textural background, with stockinette stitches in the sides. The sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch in the round, to allow the cables to shine. Ekilana is worked in pieces for the ultimate fit and knitted in the airy Norwegian combed yarn Ask from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

Size adjustment
If you want to change the width of the poncho, remove, or add sets of 14 stitches to each Back and Front to keep the shoulder shaping stitch count. This will make a 6.5 cm/2.5” difference on each part and 13 cm/5” difference on the bust circumference.
