Photographer Eivind Røhne captured the gorgeous Ammal Ahmed Haj Mohamed, with make-up & hair by Hina Suleman, wearing Kamika at the photoshoot at Galleri Würth back in June. I decided to style the tunic/dress, made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, with a machine-knitted skirt beneath and with a belt. Yarn kits are now available directly from ull.no, while the English pattern is available in my Ravelry Store.Ammal herself suggested to wear it without the skirt under, and I was ever so pleased with that idea! If you study the photo above, you can also see how I wanted to end the first set of cables moved.
I loved the look on Ammal and how stylish she made it! She wore the sample in size 2 with 12 cm/4.75″ positive ease. Kamika is graded into sizes 1 to 9 with a bust circumference of 86 to 162 cm/33.75 to 63.75″”.
Here is the introduction to the pattern: Kamika – Japanese for little goddess – is a shaped tunic adorned with travelling cables and swinging side panels that ends in a crew neck. Kamika is worked in pieces for the ultimate fit, with the side panels picked up at the end after sewing the side seams. Wear it as you prefer as a dress or a tunic, with or without a belt. Kamika is knitted in the soft Norwegian lambswool yarn Sol from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.
The sample was knitted by Nadja, aka 77stricknadel on Ravelry, using a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle and with a 21 stitches and 30 rows in Stockinette stitch gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ square.
The tunic is work back and forth in pieces from the bottom and up, then seamed. The side panel is picked up and knitted after the shoulder and side seams. The neckband is worked in the round. Thank you to my team for these stunning photos!
