Oslo Design Fair August 2024

I don’t know what happened to the summer, as I seem to believe we are at the beginning of August and not September. It is partly due to the wonderful summer weather we are having these days, that is better than most of previous last 3 summer months. But I digress, last Thursday I went to Oslo Design Fair and began by attending the breakfast meeting. Knut Erik Rekdal from NHO, talked about Norwegian Trade – Numbers and Tendencies – which was interesting. One of the other presenters was interior designer and founder of the company by/Sunde, who talked about digital presence. Above you can see the large Rauma Garn stand.I came to the fair especially to visit the Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk stand, as my 4 new designs were launched there. Above is a screen grab of the vlog I have made for my paying Patreon members from the fair, my Maimi design is on the mannequin to the right. General Manager Øyvind Myhr is presenting their new sock yarn: Fjære Sokkegarn, to a yarn shop owner.Knit Norway, was next stop to talk to yarn agent Thomas Kvist, who recently imported the Malabrigo Yarn, see photo below. There were still a lot of pink mohair or fibre mix yarns around. Take a look at this corner from the Danish Permin stand.Just in case you missed the pink shades, here is another example, also from Permin. The German yarn company Lana Grossa had chosen even brighter versions and with lilac & purples too.The fair is also a showcase for interior and below is one of the most colourful stands I spotted called Dazzle and Dawn. A new Norwegian interior design company.Only two of the five halls were open and most of these photos are from hall D. There were no crowds and seemed to be far in between the visitors to the fair. Below is a photo from the street with the entrance to all the halls. In addition there were less displays along the street and plenty of space as you can see in many of these photos. And yet it was an inspiring day out with lots of wonderful impressions!
