For the second time around, last week 8 shops, who sell clothes in Ørje, and I took part in a Fashion Show, organised by “Marker bygdekvinnelaget“/Marker Township Women. It is incredible that so many of the shops here in Ørje do sell clothes including the two farmer shop chains called Østmøllene and Felleskjøpet; one of the flower shops Ørje Blomster; the sports shop – which also sells electrical goods and toys Nilsen Sport og Elektrisk; the garden and yarn shop – I Gros hage; the second hand shop Bruktbutikken; and of course the clothing shop Skjør.
Our second meeting in August was mentioned in the local magazine called Grenseland, the day after the show the local newspaper Smaalenene Avis had a photo series with 22 photos, all by Jo Erik Askerøi, including one of me wearing Senna and Seneka, see above. I was honoured to be asked to participate. We agreed that all shops show seven outfits each and bring two prizes for the raffle.
More than 200 people, mainly women, came to the show, even more than last time. I believe we had as much fun backstage as the audience had in the main hall of the Marker Rådhus/Marker Council Town Hall. In the photo above you see my model Nora – who works at Felleskjøpet – wearing my Leylak. There was a large difference in ages, sizes and types of clothing during the evening, above you see three generations wearing sportswear from Nilsen Sport og Elektrisk. Here is clothing from the farm shop Østmøllene, with the beautiful flower decorations Issi from the flower shop had made. Here is a stunning wedding dress that has been altered from a bare back style by Randi Tangen Systua, worn by her granddaughter.Nora looked fabulous in my designs! Here she is wearing my Oydis Sweater and holding onto the matching Oydis Cowl. Of course all these photos are taken by Michael who was asked to return as a photographer.Very popular was the dress that Anna Mathilde from Felleskjøpet had sewn from a traditional farmer’s overall.
Presenter Carina Haugnes, with hair styled by Marit at Klippekroken Ørje – clothing & flowers from Ørje Blomster – did an excellent job and was given flowers by the organisers represented by Inger Granberg and Kristine Bergqvist.
Finally I will share a photo from the action back stage that I took. Cakes and coffee as well as a fizzy welcome drink was served and everyone had the chance to win a prize in the raffle. It was quite a show to take part in and it felt like a party!
