New Design: Maimi

I am thrilled to show you Maimi, one of the four new designs I have made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, knitted in their Sol lambswool yarn by my skilled sample knitter Nadja Bresky with a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows in Stockinette stitch using 3.5 mm/US 4 needle measures 10 cm/4 inches square after blocking.

The cable pattern is one of those that look more complicated than it is. I chose to use a tubular cast on and bind off to give the pullover a neat finish. The sample is made in size 2 and in these photos taken by Michael at Kistefos Museum in May you can see me wearing it with 13 cm/5 inches positive ease. I have graded Maimi in sizes 1 to 9 with a bust circumference of 93 to 164 cm/36.5 to 64.5 inches.

Named Maimi, Japanese for smiling with truth, is this sweater adorned with travelling cables, framed with a single cable in each side. Each body part has several cable repeats, while the sleeve only has only one. The pullover is crowned by a twisted rib neckband that ends in a tubular bind off. Maimi is knitted in the soft Norwegian lambswool yarn Sol from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

Yarn kits will be available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in September, while the individual pattern will be released after test knitting that begins on 5th of August.
