Last out in the series of new designs photographed last December, is Laplace. The Palazzo Pants came before the matching Khayam jacket in Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 5 ply. Brilliant sample knitter Grete Jenssen, aka ma9 on Ravelry, worked the parts for the wide-legged long trousers using a 3.75 mm/US 5 needle and a 24 stitches in stockinette stitch gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ across. Laplace is high-waisted and has side pockets with the opening in between the two cable repeats than run along the leg. I believe the pants could easily be turned into culottes by shortening the legs and I wonder if any of my test knitters will do this.
I am wearing size small in these photos taken by Michael in our front garden and inside in December last year. Laplace will be graded into sizes XS to 5XL.
I will shorten the leg length as well as the crotch length. You can see that I am wearing the pants high on the waist just to keep the length off the ground.
Here is a detail of the side with the pocket and the waistband.
Here you see Khayam and Laplace worn together from the back with the belt hanging loose.
The last photo I will share shows the set from the front with Khayam tied. The set will be test knitted beginning on June the 6th before the pattern is released in both Norwegian and English. But before then I will show you the fantastic photos that Wenche Hoel-Knai took of model Olivia Lindtein.
